Sanskrit Word of the Week (WoW)

Sanskrit Word of the Week: Maraka (Mah-Rah-Kaa)

Literally, a plague. Also used as an expletive for something irksome or to curse or swear at someone.

Usage:

'Pançali, no! Wait!' Govinda shouted.
'I won't watch helplessly. There still may be time, if only they're warned,' she shouted in response. With that, the princess urged her horse into a gallop down the hill.
Maraka! This woman…!’

(Govinda, Ch. 29.)
